Tara Reen, LCSW
Tara is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who received her Master of Social Work Degree from Loyola University, and completed a post-graduate fellowship program in Contextual Behavior Therapy at The University of Chicago. She has extensive clinical experience working with diverse populations struggling with chronic illness, pain, anxiety, depression and difficulty adjusting to a myriad of life stressors. She has offered trauma informed care and is knowledgeable of somatic tools used to assist in coping and promote healing.
She strives to offer a safe and collaborative therapeutic environment so that the client can create meaningful change. Her approach incorporates third wave behavioral therapies and mindfulness-based practices informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Functional Analytic Psychotherapy. She believes in using self compassion in psychotherapy in order to guide clients in becoming more accepting of their thoughts. With a focus on how behavioral patterns evolve over time, Tara aims to help clients take effective action in areas they can control and make improvements in the domains of life they value.
In addition to her therapeutic work, Tara has over 15 years of experience providing Clinical Social Work in the Chicago area and holds a Certified Clinical Transplant Social Worker credential. She has assisted clients with managing the challenges chronic health conditions can present, and is familiar with treating substance use disorders utilizing mindfulness-based sobriety and motivational interviewing techniques.
