Hi! I’m Melissa Snyder, Licensed Professional Counselor. I received my Bachelors of Arts in Education from the University of Kentucky. After teaching in public and private school settings, I worked for 10 years in a non-profit organization. Through my work and through my personal experiences as a foster and adoptive mom, I developed a deep appreciation for the value of mental health counseling. I earned a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Moody Theological Seminary in Chicago.
In my counseling, I strive to create an understanding, supportive environment in which people have the opportunity to process their difficulties and generate solutions. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, life adjustment, stress management, grief, trauma, parenting, and post-adoption issues. I aspire to balance understanding and validation along with feedback and skills for change. I love integrating faith and spirituality into the healing process. In my work, I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy techniques in order to assist clients in gaining self-understanding, regulating emotions and resolving life’s problems.
